1st DAFx Challenge

We are pleased to announce the launch of the 1st DAFx Parameter Estimation Challenge!

The competition focuses on two tasks:

  • Task A: estimation of physical parameters of a plate reverb model from its impulse response
  • Task B: estimation of modal parameters (frequency, decay, amplitude) from its impulse response

Participation is open to individuals, academic groups and industry teams; each team may submit up to two distinct proposals per task. We encourage the submission of any sort of estimation algorithm!

The challenge is now open for researchers to start experimenting. The target dataset will be released on 6 April 2026, and submissions are due by 31 May 2026. Results will be announced at DAFx26.
